Membership & EducationProfessionalism WorkshopThe CIA's Professionalism Workshop is a half-day session that provides an overview of professionalism issues and makes extensive use of the case study method. Topics covered include the following:
Pre-reading of the CIA Rules of Professional Conduct would be beneficial for participants. This workshop is a requirement for Property & Casualty candidates applying for Fellowship in the CIA. As well, the Society of Actuaries' (SOA) Board of Governors has approved the workshop as an equivalent to its Associateship Professionalism Course (APC) for Canadian students. Therefore, Canadian candidates who are pursuing Associateship in the SOA (ASA designation), can obtain credit for the APC by attending the CIA's Professionalism Workshop. The workshop will be held in May, June, November and December, alternating between Toronto and Montréal locations. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. The CIA maintains a master list of all registrants to the workshops. When you register for the workshop, you will be assigned to the next available workshop in your chosen location and a confirmation will be sent to you with your workshop details.
